Henry served with distinction on our board for quite some time and regularly traveled all the way from Michigan to attend our BESDA/BESDF board meetings for many years. Until illness prevented her from traveling, Laura was always with Henry. Laura was a joy to be around, and she always had something positive to say, no matter what the situation. She will be missed. Ethel Marie Stewart Foley of Culver City, California, was born in Durham, NC to John Sylvester "Shag" Stewart and Otelia Janetta Spaulding on July 16, 1938 and transitioned to life Eternal August 2, 2011.
She was dedicated to her family, friends and traveling the world.
Ethel Marie attended Durham Public Schools and was a member of the Hillside High School Class of 1956.
She attended Howard University and graduated from Tennessee State University in 1961 with a Bachel
Clarkton, NC--James Emmit Jacobs, 81, died August 6, 2011, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC. He was a veteran. Final rites were held on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Pierce's Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial was in Mitchellfield Cemetery, Clarkton, NC. Arrangements were handled by Union Funeral Home , Whiteville, NC. Survivors include one son, James Jacobs; two brothers, Leon and Willie Jacobs; three sisters, Clara Campbell, Zella White, and Cecelia Cunni
