May 3, 2011

Bruce F. Phifer II, son of Garry and Carolyn Phifer of Duluth, Ga (Grandson of Bruce F. Phifer) graduated as a certified Kingian Nonviolence Instructor from Emory University and The King Center in Atlanta Ga. Bruce was the youngest (12 years old) member of a class that consisted of High School, College and Adult Community Leaders.  Bruce was awarded scholarship to attend this course.  He will now teach others in schools, churches and other organizations the values of nonviolent conflict resolution.

The Kingian Nonviolence is  a philosophy and methodology that provides knowledge, skills and motivation necessary for people to pursue peaceful strategies for solving personal and community problems.  The strategy is derived from the philosophy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his method of nonviolent conflict reconciliation.

Martin Luther King III is a Board Member and praised young Bruce during the graduation ceremony and his sister Elder Bernice King (children of MLK JR) was one of the instructors during this course.

Bruce is a 7th grader at Berkmar Middle School in Lilburn, GA, where he is a concert violinist.
