Albert R. Spaulding

On Saturday, November 20, 2010, Mr. Albert R. Spaulding, Colonel US Army Retired passed on to be with his beloved Virginia. Mr. Spaulding had a long history of contributing his knowledge and expertise in the Washington Area. He first used his unique skills to procuring and administering contracts for the United States Congress, Federal Agencies, and private corporations. He served as chairman and CEO of a highly successful information technology firm, which he founded in 1982 with his wife Virginia H. Spaulding. Despite the demands of his successful business career, Mr. Spaulding always took time to support local and national organizations that focused on improving the plight of other minorities and the underprivileged. He actively supports such organizations as the National Urban League and the NAACP. In 1989, he established the ARS Computer Mentor Program. Under this program, ARS employees served as adult role models for at-risk school children in the Washington D.C. Area. Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1935, Mr. Spaulding is survived by his children; Michelle, Sheila (Duane) Alicia; wife, Diane Collier Spaulding; grandchildren; Courtney, Emory, Samantha and Speck 4 Albert Arzu; sister Irene McCargo; brother Bruce Spaulding and a host of family and friends who love him and will miss him dearly. Service was held at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA on Monday, November 29 at 12 noon. Interment with Full Military Honors will be held on February 7, 2011 at Arlington National Cemetery.
